The fundamental characters Ginger Coffey and Hagar Shipley both battle to make due with respect despite the fact that their mind-boggling pride regularly darkens reality. All through the novel it becomes obvious that both Ginger Coffey and Hagar Shipley's mind-boggling feeling of pride darkens their world and hence messing up them. Coffey the primary character in Brian Moore's tale The Luck of Ginger Coffey is depicted as a comic legend who has unlimited constraints that he doesn't see. Ginger Coffey accepts he is his own man, which is the reason he leaves his country Ireland and moves to Canada . Due to his pride Coffey sees himself not as the moderately aged man that he seems to be, however as an appealing little fellow out for new experiences. Presently in his prime, he viewed himself as a fine large individual with a soldierly straightness to him, his red hair thick as could be and a fine mustache for sure.. (Moore, pg. 58) Coffey doesn't appear to know about reality around him, nor of how others see him. A man that age should know not to dress as a school boy.(Moore, pg. 23) Although others consider him to be he is, a moderately aged man attempting to act like a young person, Coffey is blinded by pride and not mindful of who he truly is. All he knows is that he needs to make a big deal about himself. But since of the bogus pict ure he has of himself, he experiences unlimited dissatisfactions as he continued looking for work. ! He endeavors consistently for the most requesting occupations ; in spite of the fact that he isn't qualified in any capacity to fill any of the positions he applies for. However, at long last, things don't improve as Coffey suspected they would , once he left Ireland. Coffey keeps on being the equivalent whimsical kid brimming with expectations and dreams incapable to discover his place inside society. Margaret Laurence's champion in a manner faces a similar issue that Coffey does. Hagar Shipley in The Stone Angel is a multi year elderly person, frantically attempting to experience her last days in a poise .
